Development of Standards of Care

Standards of Care for Pompe disease are currently being developed in both the United States and Europe. Given the rarity and diagnostic complexity of Pompe disease, physicians may benefit from guidance on how to accurately diagnose and manage care for their patients with the disease. This may lead to earlier diagnosis and tailored therapies for patients with Pompe disease.

The American College of Medical Genetics has proposed draft guidelines for screening inherited metabolic disorders in newborns and children.

The European Neuromuscular Center is developing standards of care to diagnose, monitor, and manage Pompe disease in infants, children, and adults.
